Velosure: review summary
RideIn’s assessment: Include Velosure when comparing a conventional two-tier policy. Its February 2026 wording has a 21-day theft waiting period, so coordinate the start date carefully and match the Core or Performance documents to your quote.

Who is Velosure?
Velosure is part of Lawshield UK Ltd, a general insurance intermediary. Its published terms describe arranging and administering cycle cover for Chubb European Group SE, with a separate recovery arrangement. Match those legal parties against the current quote rather than relying on an old product leaflet.
The business says claims are handled in house. That describes its service arrangement; it is not independent evidence of how quickly a particular claim will be resolved. We have not submitted a claim or checked individual customer outcomes.

Core versus Performance
Velosure presents Core as the everyday option for riders who do not plan to compete or ride abroad. The published comparison includes theft, accidental damage, accessories and public liability. Performance adds a broader set of sporting, travel and recovery benefits.
Compare the limits as well as the presence of a benefit. A policy with a liability heading may still have a materially different limit or territorial scope from an alternative. Injury compensation, physiotherapy benefits and bicycle repair also answer different needs; check each section separately.
For someone using one commuter bicycle, the lower tier may be the relevant starting point. A rider entering overseas events should begin with the event and destination terms rather than assuming the more expensive tier accepts every discipline.
Theft waiting period and other exclusions
Section 13 of the February 2026 policy wording applies a 21-day theft waiting period from the policy start for any cycle. Theft incidents within that period cannot result in a successful claim. The Core product summary linked in the current library also states the restriction, although its footer is marked 04/25. Read the full contract and match it to your quote.
That waiting period matters when buying a bicycle shortly before a trip or after another policy expires. Check the start and end dates of existing protection and ask what happens at renewal. A card payment confirmation does not by itself prove that every insured risk begins immediately.
The summary excludes e-bikes exceeding its stated 250W or 15.5mph conditions. Tell the provider about a conversion, throttle or modification rather than relying on the bicycle’s retail category.

Use the correct policy version and security rules
Velosure’s library separates documents by purchase date and lists a section for policies bought from 17 February 2026. Use the version attached to your new quote. A readable older PDF can be helpful background but should not override later wording.
Request the approved-lock standard for your bicycle value, the storage rules and the claim excess in writing. For a shed or shared garage, compare the actual door locks and anchoring arrangements against the requirements before paying. Include the cost of any required security upgrade in your comparison.

Events, overseas trips and recovery
The cover-level page places sporting and travel benefits under Performance and describes European travel and optional wider arrangements. Check the current trip allowance, destinations and event disciplines. Do not assume a recovery service has the same territory as theft protection.
For an overseas race, list transit, damage during competition, third-party liability, emergency medical treatment and repatriation separately. The last two may require travel insurance. Obtain an answer about a heavy cargo e-bike or unusual recovery need instead of assuming any cycle can be carried.

Claim evidence and our verdict
The linked claims instructions say to notify Velosure as soon as reasonably possible and obtain a police reference for theft, attempted theft, malicious damage or vandalism. Keep ownership evidence, photographs and the damaged lock or parts where available; ask before commissioning a repair.
Velosure offers a straightforward tier comparison, but the initial theft restriction and dated document library make careful purchase checks essential. Compare the same start date and activities with Yellow Jersey and Bikmo. We do not infer service quality or future claim acceptance from marketing language.
