Assetsure: review summary
RideIn’s assessment: Useful to investigate for a bicycle collection or custom build where replacement value needs care. Check the security band, optional activities, claim excess and the consequences of underinsurance before choosing the premium.

Who is Assetsure?
Assetsure’s official company page identifies Hildon Park Limited as the intermediary, with FCA reference 592997 and Lloyd’s coverholder status. Its linked bicycle product summary names SCOR Syndicate 2015 at Lloyd’s as underwriter.
Lloyd’s is an insurance market; the brand arranging the policy and the underwriting syndicate are different roles. Keep the actual insurer and claims details from your quote rather than treating the Assetsure name as the complete legal answer. Regulatory or market membership also does not tell you whether a specific storage arrangement or cycling activity is accepted.

Bicycle protection and optional rider benefits
The linked IPID describes insured theft, accidental and malicious damage, replacement hire, bike-box protection and cycling legal expenses. It separately lists optional public liability, personal accident, assault-related benefits and getting-home costs.
This makes the completed schedule central to comparison. Legal expenses can help pursue an eligible claim against someone else, whereas liability addresses an eligible claim against you. Neither should be mistaken for the other. For an expensive setup, list the bicycle, spare equipment, clothing and transport case separately so that a small sub-limit does not become apparent only after an incident.

Value-based locks and a boundary to confirm
The January 2025 lock guide shows Bronze for insured bicycle value below £1,500, Silver for £1,501–£2,500, and Gold above £2,500, including fixed accessories. Its printed bands leave exactly £1,500 unclear. Ask Assetsure to confirm that value in writing rather than filling the gap by inference.
Away-from-home cover normally requires the frame secured with the approved lock to a suitable immovable object, subject to the listed circumstances and exceptions. The guide also distinguishes storage and vehicles. Test your actual arrangement against those definitions: a shared hallway, privately accessed shed and exterior rack need not produce the same answer. Keep lock purchase evidence and photographs.
Replacement value, cash settlement and underinsurance
Assetsure asks customers to insure for current new replacement cost, including relevant components, instead of merely using a discounted purchase price. Its product page explains that a cash settlement can be limited to the insurer’s preferred-supplier repair or replacement cost. It also describes a proportional reduction where the insured amount falls below 85% of value.
For a custom build, prepare an itemised replacement list and ask how the insurer would treat unavailable components. Then compare the quote with a provider using a different settlement model. A new-for-old headline does not remove the need to keep the insured sum current, nor does it establish an unrestricted cash payment equal to the full advertised retail price.

Commuting, events, holidays and e-bikes
Assetsure’s public information allows ordinary commuting and describes a competition extension, but excludes professional cycling and business uses such as delivery work. Its European extension states up to 45 days in a policy period, with longer or wider travel requiring discussion.
The IPID excludes e-bikes that fail the applicable UK rules. Disclose modifications, conversion components and intended use. A bicycle used to commute to a delivery depot is a different proposal from a bicycle used to make deliveries. Similarly, a touring bicycle travelling abroad needs its trip duration, transit and storage assessed, and separate medical travel protection where appropriate.

Claim evidence, excess and practical suitability
Assetsure’s wording and product information require evidence supporting ownership and the loss; its schedule sets the excess. Useful records include purchase documents, component details, photographs, frame number and lock evidence. Keep damaged property available and ask for instructions before arranging a repair or replacement.
The product is worth comparing when a collection or replacement-cost question needs individual attention. Its limitations to examine include business-use exclusion, optional extensions and security definitions. Compare with Bikmo, Pedal Cover and the relevant home-policy option using the same property list. This review is based on documents, without a RideIn purchase, test claim or independent claims-service rating.

Assetsure bicycle insurance: common questions
Is Assetsure itself the bicycle insurer?
Assetsure is the intermediary’s trading name. Its linked IPID identifies SCOR Syndicate 2015 at Lloyd’s as the underwriter; confirm the insurer in your quote documents.
Does new-for-old mean I can always claim the full retail price in cash?
No. The published settlement terms distinguish repair, replacement and cash, including preferred-supplier cost limits and the insured sum.
Can Assetsure cover paid delivery riding?
Its product information excludes business uses including courier and food-delivery work. Do not assume an ordinary commuting allowance includes deliveries.
