Compare the total cost and an affordable repayment schedule. Credit is subject to status and affordability checks; advertised rates and offers can change. Missed payments can damage your credit record.
V12 Retail Finance: summary and key terms
Our assessment: Useful for comparing a participating shop’s instalment offer on a specific bicycle. The retailer’s price, term and finance conditions determine value, rather than the V12 name alone.

How V12 bicycle finance works
You choose an eligible purchase with a participating retailer, select an available repayment plan and complete the finance process. V12 describes a cycling connection through the Association of Cycle Traders and its Ride it Away retail finance scheme. That is a retail credit route, separate from an employer’s Cycle to Work salary-sacrifice arrangement.
Do not assume two bicycle shops using the same finance platform offer interchangeable terms. One may offer a longer interest-free period only on higher-priced bikes, while another may restrict promotional finance on discounted stock. The comparison has to use the same bicycle specification and the actual basket.
The lender, broker and shop have different roles
V12’s company information distinguishes V12 Retail Finance Limited, a credit broker, from Secure Trust Bank PLC. V12 Retail Finance is also a trading name of that bank. Use the legal lender and broker details on your agreement when identifying who handles the credit.
The shop remains central to sizing, the order, delivery and product questions. Keep its order confirmation alongside the finance documents. If something goes wrong, record whether the issue concerns the bicycle, a cancelled order or the repayment account, so you can direct the question to the appropriate business.

How to judge a V12 offer
Add the deposit and all scheduled repayments, then compare the result with the best cash price for the exact build. For illustration, a £2,000 bicycle with a £200 deposit and 18 interest-free payments of £100 costs £2,000 overall. That arithmetic demonstrates a 0% structure; it is not a current V12 quote.
The lower monthly payment on a longer plan can hide a larger total when interest is charged. Also ask what happens after an early repayment, missed instalment, return or change to the order. Written terms are more useful than a verbal description of finance as flexible.
- Verify the bike, size, included components and delivery price.
- Check the amount of credit after the deposit, number of payments and total payable.
- Confirm whether sale stock, accessories or discount codes change the offer.
- Retain the lender’s pre-contract information and cancellation instructions.
When another route may suit the purchase better
V12 retail finance is tied to a participating seller. A private used-bike purchase therefore calls for another payment route, such as savings or an eligible unsecured loan. A commuter with employer support should also compare Cycle to Work, including ownership and leaving-employment terms.
This is a research-based review of the retail-finance route, not evidence of universal acceptance or independent service testing. V12’s separate personal-loan broking service is a different product and should not be confused with the bike-shop instalment agreement discussed here.
