UK-compliant assistance must progressively cut out by 15.5mph; the motor does not make this a powered vehicle above that threshold.

Compare batteries in watt-hours, not only in kilometres. A sensible owner plans around the hardest regular return trip, keeps a reserve for detours and battery ageing, and charges with the supplied compatible charger in a dry place with a working smoke alarm. Stop using a battery that is swollen, damaged, unusually hot or has been immersed.

Ride, comfort and handling

Wide tyres and an upright city position provide more isolation than the rigid fork suggests. Road.cc found the bike quiet and comfortable; Stuff also praised its character and removable battery, while noting that some rivals offer a tighter technology experience.

The boost control can help once moving, but Stuff reported that it was not a standstill launch aid. That distinction matters at heavily loaded junctions. The torque sensor should make normal assistance intuitive, but the single gear still sets the rider’s cadence.

Equipment and everyday practicality

The core equipment is hydraulic disc brakes, custom wide puncture-resistant tyres and a rigid aluminium fork. Listed weight is about 21kg net and 23kg with fitted equipment; the permissible load is 145kg. Tenways positions the fit for riders around approximately 165–200cm, but height is only a starting point. Reach, saddle position, stand-over clearance and control access need checking on the actual bicycle.

GPS, NFC access and app functions can make the bike less anonymous and easier to manage, but their availability can vary by market and service plan. Before paying for the technology, confirm what works in the UK, whether any subscription is included, and what happens if the phone or network is unavailable.

Treat location tracking as recovery support, not theft prevention. Use a strong independently rated lock, secure the frame to an immovable object and remove the battery when appropriate.
