Where the Kado S fits

The clearest match is trail and enduro riders wanting maximum battery capacity and composed handling at the entry point to the Kado range. This review is based on the Evans specification, manufacturer information and clearly identified independent coverage; it is not presented as a RideIn hands-on test.

Motor, controls and UK legality

Evans lists Bosch Performance Line CX (Smart System), up to 100 Nm torque.. The controls are described as Bosch System Controller with Mini Remote.

The Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System is eligible for manufacturer software updates that change available peak figures, but UK road-legal assistance still cuts at 15.5mph. Firmware state should be checked rather than assuming every displayed bike has the same tune.

Independent Kado tests describe smooth, predictable Bosch support and strong climbing traction. Those credible themes come from published testing, not our own ride.

For use as an electrically assisted pedal cycle in Great Britain, the maximum continuous rated motor power must not exceed 250W, assistance must cut out by 15.5mph and the pedals must be able to propel the bike. Check the label and delivered configuration rather than relying on a category name.

Battery, charging and realistic range

The listed battery is Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh, removable. No numerical range is stated in the accessible listing; route, rider, weather and assistance level materially affect distance

The removable 800Wh PowerTube is a major asset for long days and repeated climbs, matching the largest capacities in this group.

It contributes to the Kado’s substantial weight. Reviewers note that the bike’s mass is felt at low speed and when lifting, even though Whyte’s low battery placement aids handling.

Use only the approved compatible charger, charge away from escape routes and stop using a battery that is damaged, swollen, leaking or unusually hot. Ask for the replacement-pack price and warranty conditions before the original battery becomes a problem.

Frame, fit and ride character

The frame specification is 6061 alloy, hydroformed T6 aluminium, multi-butted, custom drawn, tapered headtube, internal cable routing, Shape.it Link V2, 12x148mm Boost. Fork and suspension details are RockShox Psylo Gold, DebonAir, Isolator RC damper, 160mm travel, 15x110mm Boost. The tyres are Maxxis Minion DHF, EXO casing, 29 x 2.5in.

A direct independent Kado S test praised confidence and agility but identified tyres and brakes as constraints on the chassis. Those are useful, build-specific caveats rather than generic e-MTB assumptions.
