The rear e-Motiq system combines a 250W hub motor with torque-sensitive control, start assistance and adaptive range estimation. It is intended to provide natural support across urban and light off-road riding rather than the high climbing torque of a performance mid-drive e-MTB.

Evans’ text repeats a 20mph figure that corresponds to some overseas versions, whereas normal UK road-legal pedal assistance must cut out at 15.5mph. Buyers should obtain written confirmation that the supplied bike is the UK-compliant version before using it on public roads.

For use as an electrically assisted pedal cycle in Great Britain, the maximum continuous rated motor power must not exceed 250W, assistance must cut out by 15.5mph and the pedals must be able to propel the bike. Check the label and delivered configuration rather than relying on a category name.

The handlebar display is valuable on longer rides because it provides an evolving range estimate rather than only a simple charge bar. A spare charging opportunity remains prudent when riding beyond the transport network, as the four-speed bike is heavier to pedal without assistance than a conventional folder.

Use only the approved compatible charger, charge away from escape routes and stop using a battery that is damaged, swollen, leaking or unusually hot. Ask for the replacement-pack price and warranty conditions before the original battery becomes a problem.

Cycling Weekly, TechRadar and Singletracks converge on improved stability, comfort and mixed-surface ability, alongside reduced portability and premium pricing. Some reviews tested US-tuned 20mph bikes, so their speed and range results are not directly transferable to a UK model.
